CONCEALERS DON'T JUST CONCEAL - TIPS AND TRICKS

Saturday, December 17, 2016

When it comes to makeup, there are always a few hacks, easy tricks and simple tips that you are unaware of. Knowing them can be of great help, especially when you are someone who finds it utterly difficult to wing your eyeliner or contour your cheeks. One of my favorite makeup essentials is a Concealer. You know what a concealer is, right? So that leaves me from having to define a concealer right here. But there are different types of concealers meant for different purposes and we often fail to understand that.
Well, here’s what you need to know.

Types of concealers-

1. Creams and Stick Concealers-

These concealer provide maximum coverage but they tend to dry up your skin. Assure that your skin is well hydrated and moisturized before using concealer in sticks or cream form.

2. Pencil Concealers-
They are best used for highlighting brows and defining your lips. Pencil concealers offer semi coverage and aren’t the best option for covering dark circles or uneven spots.

3. Liquid Concealers-

Easy to use and offering medium to full coverage, liquid concealers are the most common. They blend easily and are perfect for hiding under eye circles and balancing uneven skin-tone.

Moving on with the actual motive of writing this post.
Concealers are like magic wands and there are so many of them to choose from. A shade lighter than your foundation/skin tone is the right one for you. So make sure you have the right shade before you go, “Evanesco!”

Here are a few tips and tricks-
1. Don’t just draw the concealer under your eye. Remember to always create an upside down triangle under your eye before you blend. That accentuates your cheek bones and acts as a high lighter.
2. Don’t swipe or rub your concealer in the blending process. Fingers, blending sponge or brushes, use the dab technique for it works best.
3. Missing on eye primer and don’t know what to do? Use your concealer as an eye shadow primer and it works the same. Make sure to use only a required amount and don’t overdo it.
4. Line your lips and brows using a concealer once you’re done filling them to. This highlights the lips and the brows and brings them to stand out. Defining the brows has never been easier.
5. Need more volume on the lashes? Apply concealer all over your lashes. You heard me! Go ahead and once you’re done with that, follow it with your usual mascara routine. And Voila! full volume lashes are served, instantly!
6. Last and as important a point, don’t forget to set your concealer with a powder. This step is mandatory even if you’re not using a concealer. Set your makeup with a loose compact powder to make it last longer.

There you have it, tips and tricks on how to make the most of your concealer.
Hope it was helpful. :)
